Pryderi Mission Statement

Pryderi Mission Statement

Our Mission and what we strive to do.

Its an idea that is severely challenged in the modern era, the idea of truth. That there exists outside of subjectivity a central truth in anything has been challenged by subjectivity, an individual’s truth, and competing narratives. One doesn’t need to look further than the daily slate of news headlines to confirm this assertion. Even further and warranting more discussion later is the modern priority of power. What is right, or even basically more beneficial is overridden by gaining control, or not ceding weakness to the other side. At Pryderi we see this and want to do our part in promoting truth.

The way we think we can approach truth is through a certain type of openness that leads us to our mission. In his influential book The Closing of the American Mind, author Alan bloom describes the idea of openness as this: “There are two types of openness, the openness of indifference… and the openness that invites us to the quest for knowledge and certitude.” P.41. Pryderi seeks the type of openness that leads us to truth. We will research and write papers that seek knowledge, truth, and certitude.
